Story
At a retreat in Morocco, a woman meets a young man whose friendship develops into an intoxicating and transformative love affair. Susannah Grant returns to direct, reviving a script she wrote for Netflix in this romantic drama about writers, Morocco and the age gap.
Being a recognized writer who falls in love with the always gallant Liam Hemsworth who gives a proper character that we can empathize with and sometimes identify with
Laura Dern, the lead actress, gives us a cool character that transports us to the talent of an actress who at this stage of her career can afford to give us even these romantic dramas in which she doesn’t have to play her best role in her career, but makes us fall in love with the love a story that suits him as if he had been told in a more mature stage. The couple is not completely dominated by chemistry, but it allows us to confirm their moments of romance and their interesting dialogues, which are the great strength of the film. The story has its ups and downs, but I think it balances out in its final summary, giving us a drama to spend an enjoyable time with, without high demands and high expectations of what it ultimately delivers.
It’s still the same movie we’ve seen before, with a correct result, without much audacity, with effective dialogues and romance that will make everyone happy
It helps a lot if your director knows how to keep the pace going and capture this world of writers looking for inspiration or finding themselves. As is often the case, it indulges in some simplistic clichés, but they end up being more of a contribution than a disaster, which ultimately benefits the film’s overall score. It’s a romantic drama perfect for a weekend for couples or anyone who likes this genre, delivers, has good moments and gives us a story that’s compelling.

Netflix’s Journey Through Morocco will satisfy fans of the genre, make those looking for something more innovative want more, and make those who hate simplicity hate it. In short, a Netflix-style movie, for Netflix and for Netflix, which is what you already know you’re going to find when you decide to watch it. The last season of the series “What we do in the shadows” is one of the biggest TV and streaming debuts this month.
