James Gunn had pitched ‘CREATURE COMMANDOS’ before taking over DC
Story
It follows a group of military superheroes consisting of a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon. Gunn then greenlit the project himself when he became the CEO of DC Studios. Series writer and creator James Gunn is seen in the opening titles with a laptop typing a script.

. Featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The Return of the King (of the Hill) (2023). After three episodes, I find it to be a lot of fun – the soundtrack is fantastic, setting the tone perfectly for each scene, and the dialogue is crisp and engaging, with characters that feel distinct and well-written.
The plot, while not groundbreaking, keeps you immersed
The animation quality is excellent, showcasing vibrant imagery and fluid movement that brings the story to life. However, the unnecessary sex and excess gore feel overdone and detract from the overall experience. I don’t know if it could draw in some of the audience, but they don’t add any value to the story.
So far, so good… “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month
That being said, it’s still an incredibly entertaining show with strong pacing, likable characters, and plenty of thrilling moments to keep me hooked. So far, I’d give it an 8/10, as it’s close to perfect, but it’s held back by those unnecessary elements. If it continues to focus on its strengths (great storytelling, visuals, and characters), it could easily become one of my favorite DC animated series.
