The marriage is threatened when the husband’s first love returns to town. The fundamental problem with this year’s PÖLP is that there were so few screenings of classic films, far fewer than the amount scheduled for PÖLP 2023. I, as an audience member, was torn by the overwhelming number of green-handed new films that play with concepts and techniques but whose fancy shells contain few eye-opening and refreshing pieces. The lack of time-honored classics leads to a lack of spice for my nerves. Among the new films, however, Out of Control, by mature director Le Ny, stands out as a solid, gripping, and emotionally complex piece of nonsense.
