There have been many attempts to bring Kraven the Hunter to the big screen, but all ultimately failed

Story

Kraven’s complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff, sets him on a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the world’s greatest hunter, but also one of its most feared. Aaron Taylor-Johnson takes a trip down memory lane, revisiting some of his most popular action film roles, leading up to his final portrayal of Marvel’s iconic anti-hero Kraven in Kraven the Hunter. Sam Raimi wanted him to appear in Spider-Man 4 before it was cancelled, and Kraven’s spear appeared in Čudesni Spider-Man 2 (2014) as a teaser for his planned appearance in the also-cancelled Sinister Six film.

As for the MCU, Ryan Coogler wanted to include him in Black Panther (2018), taking inspiration from Christopher Priest’s Black Panther comic, but was unable to secure the rights. Jon Watts wanted Kraven to be the backup villain in Spider-Man: Put bez povratka (2021) in case the multiverse storyline didn’t work out. Kraven the Hunter is one of Marvel’s strongest films to date

Its dark, gritty tone and compelling performances from two standout characters – Kraven and his father (played by Russell Crowe, who gives one of his best performances in recent years) really make the film work for me. One of the film’s biggest strengths is its grounded, personal plot. Rather than focusing on the stakes of the end of the world, the plot revolves around family drama, making it more intimate and engaging.

All in all, I really liked Kraven the Hunter

While some of the CGI could have been improved, this seems to be a common problem in recent MCU and SMU movies (with a few exceptions, like Deadpool and Logan). That being said, it doesn’t detract from the overall experience. It’s dark, gritty, and bloody – everything you’d expect from this type of movie.

It’s a smooth, edgy action movie with a 90s/2000s vibe

I’d love to see Aaron Taylor-Johnson return to the role, but we all know how these things go. So, head to your local theater, buy a ticket, and I promise you’ll get your money’s worth. Cheers!
