An Afghanistan veteran who has a mysterious connection to her dead best friend from the army comes face to face with her Vietnam vet grandfather at the family’s ancient lake house. Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris previously starred together in Gone Baby. Gone (2007).. I attended the world premiere of this film at SXSW and was very impressed with how this film tackles mental health issues with both dignity and humor. The performances were extraordinary and the script was refreshing and nuanced. This is the first time a director and writer have made their debut in this way, it is truly remarkable. I can’t wait for this film to hit theaters so I can see it again. The writer/director dared to share her very personal story through the eyes of two minority women. It was a very brave and rare move that should also be commended because the execution is flawless.
